CITB Achieving Behavioural Change

This 1-day course is aimed at all workers on a construction site. Designed to give an understanding of how attitude, behaviour, communication and engagement at all levels, can prevent accidents.

This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations.  

Topics include:

  • Recognising the role good supervision plays in developing a positive safety culture
  • Identifying and challenging inappropriate behaviour and attitudes in the workplace
  • Identifying the triggers for inappropriate behaviour
  • Developing behavioural practices which enhance and support the existing safety culture
  • Demonstrating the communication skills to deliver effective and meaningful daily task briefings and toolbox talks.

At the end of the course, you will have an understanding of:

  • the basic legal duties of employers and employees
  • definitions of hazards, risks and control measures
  • a list possible causes of accidents
  • the link between attitude and behaviour
  • the costs of poor safety performance
  • the benefits of good safety performance
  • ABC and using the STAARR and TASK card

  • Remote closed session – Live tutor-led via Microsoft Teams or Zoom
